Abstract

This article analyzes the role of idioms in the Uzbek language, their importance in the formation of human speech culture, and their functional properties in the communicative process. Idioms are manifested as language units that embody the centuries-old life experience, worldview, national thinking and cultural values of the people. Their appropriate and purposeful use in speech allows for a figurative, impressive, concise and meaningful expression of thought. The article highlights the aspects of phraseological units related to the clarity, expressiveness, impressiveness, logic and nationality of speech. Also, the issues of developing the communicative competence and speech culture of pupils and students through teaching phrases in the educational process are considered.
